Telescopic boom lifts, 60 to 125 ft
A telescopic boom is a straight stick. It reaches farther and faster across an open site, and it does not reach up and over the way an articulating boom does.
60, 80, and 125 ft
60 and 80 ft straight booms suit steel, masonry, and site work with a clear line from the tires to the basket. 125 ft is a different job: more setup room, more ground pressure, and a delivery that needs a planned path. Do not order the tallest machine because the building is tall. Order the reach you measured from a spot the truck can actually put the base.
If the basket has to go around a roof overhang or a tree, an articulating boom is usually the better request. If the path is open, the telescopic boom is simpler and often steadier at long reach.
Site checks before the truck rolls
Look up for power lines before you look at the height chart. Look down for soft fill, fresh asphalt, and underground structures the outriggers or tires should not sit on. A 125 ft machine is not a drive-up tool for a crowded lot.
- Give the delivery driver a spotter and a path, not a street address alone.
- Say if the boom has to drive while elevated. Not every unit is rated for that.
- Plan the pickup. Tall booms are harder to extract than they are to deliver.
